JUDITH ALSTADTER, pianist Judith Alstadter,
brilliant American pianist, has achieved recognition and praise not only
for the beauty and virtuosity of her interpretations, but also for the
imagination and originality of her programs. Her Alice Tully Hall series
devoted to the complete piano works of Gabriel Fauré, heard for
the first time in New York, was widely acclaimed and received plaudits
for "keyboard command", "sensitivity", "complete technical equipment",
and "color, imagination, and dramatic flair". Subsequent New York appearances
include recitals at Carnegie Recital Hall in a series of Romantic Women
Composers praises for their uniqueness and sensitivity. She has concertized in the U.S., Europe, and the Caribbean, as recitalist, with orchestra, in lecture-recitals and in chamber music concerts. In addition to numerous solo recitals in New York and abroad, she has appeared at the Marlboro Festival, the Newport Romantic Music Festival, and the Tully Hall Sampler Series. She is the Founder and director of the Minnewaska Chamber Music Society, which presents chamber music concerts, festivals, and workshops. Judith Alstadter is an official Steinway Artist. Born in New York, Judith Alstadter is a graduate of the Juilliard School, where she studied with Rosina Lhevinne and Sascha Gorodnitzki. She received her Doctoral Degree from Yale Music School, where she worked with Ward Davenny, and has studied in France with Jeanne-Marie Darré and in New York with Volya Cossack and Abbey Simon. Judith Alstadter has recorded for Musical Heritage and Educo Records. She was honored by the French Government for her contribution to French music in America and was named Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters. She is well-known as a music-educator and has been affiliated with several Universities. Dr. Alstadter is Artist-in-Residence and a member of the Music Faculty at Pace University and a member of the faculty at Five Towns College. She also is Director of Judith Alstadter Piano Studios. A frequent speaker and workshop clinician for music organizations and teachers, she also offers Master Classes in piano and chamber music. Judith Alstadter leads Retreats and Workshops on Spirituality, Meditation, and Music at retreat centers, churches and temples, health spas, community centers, and clubs, as well as individualized retreats at private homes. Retreats and workshops include guided musical meditations, piano selections, group singing, quiet time, sharing, and time in nature, whenever possible.
